The city of Kharv, which lies in Nishapur County of Iran’s northeastern province of Razavi Khorasan, is one of the largest fruit producers in the country.
The city’s prunes are among the most sought after in the world due to their high-quality and that is why Kharv is known as the capital of prunes in Iran.
Kharv has a staircase-type architecture and is also called Khorasan’s Masouleh. Both the courtyards and rooftops in the Iranian city of Masouleh serve as pedestrian areas similar to streets.
In Autumn, plums are seen on the rooftops of the city, waiting to be dried in the sun, making a beautiful scene.
Plums are harvested by the rural men, while the women are in charge of peeling and drying them.
